Nguavese Tracy Dzungwe

Africa Regional Director Development & Partnerships

Nguavese is the Executive Director of Women Engaged for Development (WE4D), an organisation committed to building safe, thriving communities where women and girls can fully contribute to sustainable development. Her work focuses on the intersections of conflict, violent extremism, climate-induced displacement, food security, human trafficking, environmental sustainability, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), all of which are exacerbated by climate change.

Her leadership addresses the complex challenges of climate mobility, resource scarcity, and social inequality, ensuring that interventions are inclusive and transformative. As the West Africa Regional Focal Point for the Global Environment Facility Civil Society Network (GEF CSO Network), Nguavese has been a key advocate for integrating gender equity and social inclusion into climate action, playing a pivotal role in shaping the GEF Gender Policy. Her efforts to align global policies with local needs have enhanced community resilience and strengthened governance structures, advancing equitable and sustainable solutions to urgent development challenges.

By championing integrated strategies that address both conflict and sustainability, Nguavese continues to inspire innovative, multi-sectoral approaches that empower women and girls, strengthen community resilience, and promote long-term peace and development.
