Munas is a Senior Researcher and the team leader of Social Cohesion and Reconciliation research thematic at the Centre for Poverty Analysis. He holds a PhD in Diaspora Studies obtained from Radboud University, Nijmegen, Netherlands. He has over 20 years of experience in research, policy analysis, monitoring and evaluation. Munas’s research and publications focus on migration and development, transnationalism and diaspora engagement in post-war recovery, using alternative dispute resolution mechanisms for sustainable peace, reconciliation and social cohesion, poverty and conflict and fisheries sector issues, climate change and sustainable agriculture. Munas has worked in Sri Lanka, Cambodia, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Australia. Munas teaches post-graduate courses on monitoring and evaluation, migration and research methodology. He presently leads a project to set up a conflict early warning system in post-war Sri Lanka. He also leads an impact study of mine action in war affected Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka. His interest areas include Poverty and Conflict, Post-War Development and recovery, Post-development, Transnationalism and Religious Identities, Diaspora Engagement and Evaluations.
