This project aims to boost Cambodia’s climate resilience by integrating climate adaptation into development plans and enhancing local capacities. It includes conducting key feasibility studies for climate projects, supporting community-based initiatives, and generating valuable sector-specific knowledge. Supporting the Ministry of Environment, the project has produced crucial policy documents and insights into gender-focused climate adaptation, benefiting areas like agriculture, health, and infrastructure.
Overview
Our project aims to help Cambodian institutions and communities better integrate climate resilience into their development plans. Here’s how we’re making a difference:
- Enhanced Coordination and Planning: We’re improving how climate adaptation is included in national and local development strategies, budgets, and projects, ensuring better alignment with climate resilience goals.
- Feasibility Studies for Key Projects: We conduct in-depth studies to assess and support priority climate adaptation projects, helping to secure international funding.
- Support for Community-Based Adaptation: We’re establishing a mechanism to fund and support local climate resilience projects and boosting the ability of civil society organizations to incorporate climate resilience into their work.
- Knowledge Sharing: We generate and share valuable knowledge on climate adaptation across various sectors, helping to inform and guide future efforts.
Working together with the Ministry of Environment, our achievements include developing essential policy documents, guidance manuals, and a master plan on gender and climate change. We’ve also provided insights into the economic benefits of integrating gender into climate adaptation strategies, covering areas such as regenerative agriculture, health, water management, and infrastructure.
