The Asian Development Bank (ADB), with funding support from the Government of Japan through the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific, is implementing a regional technical assistance (TA) project titled Investing in Climate Change Adaptation through Agroecological Landscape Restoration. This initiative, focusing on Cambodia, Bangladesh, and the Philippines, promotes nature-based solutions to build climate resilience. Key interventions include forest restoration, agroforestry, and agroecology practices, aimed at improving biodiversity and enhancing community livelihoods.
In Cambodia, the project collaborates with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Administration, with technical assistance from the International Centre for Environmental Management and the World Agroforestry Centre, alongside NGO partner Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
Significant restoration efforts have been carried out in Battambang Province’s Sangker River Basin headwaters. These initiatives have demonstrated methods to rehabilitate degraded forests, restore critical drainage corridors, control erosion, conserve biodiversity, and support the livelihoods of local community forest members.
Watch how nature-based solutions can rehabilitate degraded forests, combat erosion, reduce flooding, and boost livelihoods in Cambodia:
