Chea Chanthan
Rural Development and Climate Resilience Specialist
Chanthan’s expertise focuses on rural development and climate resilience, with more than 15 years of experience leading projects on food systems transformation, climate-smart agriculture, agroecological practices, and community-based adaptation. He has successfully coordinated development projects with FAO and other international organizations, working at the intersection of agriculture, climate change, market systems, and community empowerment. He has also carried out stakeholder mapping and developed engagement plans, ensuring implementation produced intended impacts through strategic engagement and strengthened stakeholder ownership.
His expertise spans project design, management, and evaluation, with a strong focus on monitoring and evaluation (M&E), theory of change, participatory planning, and adaptive management approaches. Over the years, he has undertaken numerous consultancy assignments on project evaluation and impact assessment for agencies such as WorldFish, Finn Church Aid, and SNV, bringing analytical rigor and practical insights to strengthen programme effectiveness.
He holds a Master’s degree in Agriculture (Rural Development) from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan, and a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from the Royal University of Agriculture, Cambodia. He has co-authored publications on climate adaptation, food security, and rural livelihoods in peer-reviewed journals, and has authored evaluation and assessment reports for various agencies.
