Professor Alamgir Hossain
AI and Digital Transformation Expert
Professor Dr. Alamgir Hossain is an academic leader and industry expert in AI and digital innovation. He holds a PhD in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield (UK) and currently serves as CEO of Digital Readiness and Intelligent Systems Ltd (UK), as well as AI Advisor to ACI Ltd (Bangladesh).
He has held senior leadership roles across the UK and internationally, including Vice President of Academic Affairs & Research at Cambodia University of Technology and Science, Research Lead at the Centre for Digital Innovation, and Head of Digital Research and Innovation at the National Horizon Centre (Teesside University, UK). He also founded the IT Research Institute at Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge) and previously served as Chair of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Dhaka.
His expertise spans Trustworthy AI, cybersecurity, big data analytics, intelligent decision support systems, robotics, image processing, and immersive technologies for adaptive learning. Since 1994, he has led applied AI and digital transformation projects across sectors including healthcare, agriculture, engineering, security, education, and business.
Professor Hossain has secured over £16 million in international research funding as Principal Investigator, built collaborations across 25 countries, and co-authored publications with researchers from 14 nations. He has also partnered with more than 100 companies, government agencies, and community organisations on innovation and knowledge transfer initiatives.
Professor Hossain has an impressive publication record, with over 350 peer-reviewed research articles, 19 book contributions, and a publication in Nature’s prestigious journal. He has received more than 12,000 citations and has won six best paper awards for journals and international conferences publications. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he has been honoured with the “F C Williams 1996″ award (UK) for a journal article and a Lifetime Achievement award from Channel S, London.
Beyond his research accomplishments, Professor Hossain has successfully supervised 15 PhD students and served as a guest editor for several high-quality journals.
